This amuses me greatly. Too true as well; once you start shipping, you begin to see it everywhere if you're not careful.

The only concern I have from a readability standpoint is that the time jump between the second to last and the last paragraph could be more clear; I wasn't immediately certain that the head aching thing wasn't an immediate continuation of what had been going on at the end of the previous paragraph. Of course, that could just be because I'm dumb.

Also, I see you took my title suggestion on Head Trauma; I'm glad that it worked out. A nice grimdark title for a nice grimdark work.
